My mother knew I could express myself through art at an early age, and she always encouraged me to do so. I have cultivated this seed she planted all my life, and it has bloomed into a passion that inspires me. From singing at age 5 to painting with pastels on various canvases and furniture at age 10, art, in some form, has been an integral part of my life. Having a mother who gave me unlimited choices of color for painting my bedroom and furniture was a magical experience and one of my fondest memories.
My grandmother also encouraged my creative genes and she was never afraid to let me loose in the house with paint and a brush. She was always willing to teach me something new either about singing or glazing techniques. The absolute best gift she gave me was to always laugh over the messes, and indeed, there were plenty of those! The best advice I can give to anyone interested in art is the lesson both my mother and grandmother taught me: Balance. It is the key to creativity.
